Brantford, Ontario – June 22, 2011 – Britain West Motorsport, Canada’s leading Formula Ford competition group, heads back to the sweeping natural terrain road course of Mosport International Raceway in a effort to capture their first Can Am Cup title. This weekend will see the seventh running of the Can Am Cup, founded by Howden Media Group owner Rob Howden, publisher of eFormulaCarNews.com. Despite multiple wins in the Formula Ford class, the Can Am Cup has eluded the Britain West Motorsport squad. This weekend will see three familiar faces joined by a newcomer to the Formula Ford ranks. In B Group cars it will be Gord Ross piloting his bright orange #63 Britain West prepared Van Diemen. In the A Group cars it will be St-Jeanne d’arc, Quebec native Sergio Pasian coming off a career best weekend at the Canadian Grand Prix. Joining Pasian will be Sofina Foods Driver Development member Garett Grist from Grimsby, Ontario as he looks to repeat his stellar opening weekend in Formula Ford, which saw the rookie driver take two poles and two seconds in his first trip to Mosport.

“All of our guys were good at Mosport last time out for the Spring Race. Gord took a podium and Garett ran really well taking two podiums,” comments David Clubine, owner of Britain West Motorsport. “I’m glad to see Sergio here in his Formula Ford. He was great at the Grand Prix. Last time here he was in his Mazda in the Libre class. This time he’s in his Formula Ford and he will be a factor all weekend long.”

Joining the Britain West squad for the first of four races in the Ontario Formula Ford Challenge is Mathew DiLeo from Innisfil, Ontario. The karting standout and experienced open wheel racer is looking for more track time right here in Ontario. DiLeo has been running in the hotly contest USF2000 Series with Brian Stewart Racing, who orchestrated this four race program with Britain West Motorsport. DiLeo brings a load of sports car and formula car experience to the team and will be a factor all weekend long.

“I have known Brian (Stewart) for many years. I was really honoured when he called us looking to run Mathew in some Formula Ford races at Mosport,” comments Clubine. “Matthew is a great competitor and we are really excited to have him join our team for some dates this summer. Matthew and Garett raced karts together and they are looking forward to joining forces in the Can Am Cup this weekend.”

The Britain West squad takes to Mosport International Raceway on Friday, June 24 for a full day of practice followed by two complete days on Saturday and Sunday.
