2015 Year in Review

2015 Year in Review

Sorry this is a little late in coming…2015 was an exciting year for us here at the shop and at the track. We completed construction of our new 8,000 square foot facility and moved in the middle of March, right before our season started. We are all finding it great to work out of this bright new facility. It also has not taken us long to fill it up with race cars and various short and long term projects.

On track we enjoyed another very successful season. The Toyo Tire F1600 Championship of Ontario and the Formula Tour 1600 of Quebec again ran the Super Series, consisting of four race weekends during the year. Michael Adams won the Super Series by winning 6 out of the 8 races. He won the first two races at his home track, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, in May in his 1992 Ford powered Van Dieman. In July, with sponsorship from Fel Drives’ Chris Bye, he was victorious at Shannonville Motorsport Park in a Britain West 2013 Honda powered Mygale. And then again, in August, he won both races at the GP3R, a track he had never run at before, in the Mygale.

Because of Michael’s strong performance this season, he was chosen to be the representative of Team Canada at the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch in Great Britain. Michael performed very well at the Festival, winning his heat race and he did a wonderful job at showcasing Canada’s up and coming talent.

We enjoyed success in being part of the Formula Tour 1600 Championship in Quebec in 2015 also. Jean-Phillipe Jodoin ran with us this year again, capturing the championship with many strong performances in his 2014 Honda powered Mygale. He won races during the season at Mt. Tremblant and ICAR. At the GP3R weekend, JP placed second in both races after two very well driven and hard fought battles with Michael Adams. We could not have asked for a better showing that weekend. JP finished the season with 5 wins, 3 second place finishes and 2 thirds. It was a great season for JP and the team. Congratulations JP!!

Many F1600 drivers were under the Britain West tent this year on a full time or part time basis and we would like to sincerely thank all of them for their efforts this year. Thanks go to: JP Jodoin, Michael Adams. Gord Ross, Guy Gilain, Stephen Temple, Serge Lacroix, Amy Castell and Frank Petti.

Britain West also ran many F2000 races in Canada and the United States during the 2015 season. Nathan Blok, Chase Pelletier, Jim Hallman and Aaron Pettipas all piloted F2000’s this year under our tent and all had podium finished at various races. Nathan Blok captured the F2000 Canadian Championship!! There were some great battles among our drivers.

We also participated in the annual VARAC Festival at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park again this year. David won the inaugural Oliver Clubine Memorial Trophy this year driving Ted Michalos’s Crossle. Special mention goes to Bill Bovenizer for running the festival this year with us.

We would not have the succes we have here without the tireless efforts of our full time and part time staff at the shop and at the track. Don, Dave, Daniel. Phil, Steve, Ken, Bill, Brian, Peter and Mo have all put in many hours in to prep and maintain our cars. Thanks to all of them for their efforts.

We are looking forward to another great season in 2016!! See you all at the race track…
