“2011 Can Am Cup winning team return to Mosport as they begin a gruelling five straight weekends of Formula Ford racing action”

2011-09-01

Brantford, Ontario – September 1, 2011 – Britain West Motorsport, Canada’s leading Formula Ford competition group, will make what seems like a long awaited return to Mosport International Raceway for the next round of Ontario Formula Ford Championship racing action. The team skipped the last round as they had a scheduling conflict with the Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres, part of the Quebec-based Formula Tour 1600 program. Heading to Mosport this weekend will be Steve Tzountzouris of Uxbridge, Ontario as he returns to OFFC action in his A Class car. The second car will be piloted by Formula Ford rookie Garett Grist of Grimsby, Ontario, a member of the Sofina Foods Driver Development Program and supported by Sofina Foods of Toronto, Ontario. Grist, running the Britain West yellow and blue #65 Van Dieman in the A Class, has clocked the fastest lap in qualifying in all four starts at Mosport and currently sits second in points. Sergio Pasian of Quebec will pilot a third Britain West-prepared car as he runs his Formula Mazda car in the Libre Class.

“It feels like we have been away from Mosport for so long. It will be great to be back at the OFFC,” comments David Clubine, owner of Britain West Motorsport. “The scheduling conflict was really disappointing. We felt that trying to be in two places at once wasn’t the right move for us. We tested this week at ICAR to be ready for the next round of Formula Tour. This way we can concentrate on this weekend at Mosport.”

The three-car effort this weekend will give the team a chance to work on new set-up programs as they continue to take wins and podiums at each stop. Britain West Motorsport heads to Mosport this weekend followed by a trip back to Quebec for the penultimate round of the Formula Tour round at ICAR. The squad then heads back to Mosport followed by another trip to Quebec, this time to Mont Tremblant for the final round of the Formula Tour Series. The Britain West Motorsport group then returns to Mosport for one final time in 2011 as they complete the final weekend of Ontario Formula Ford Championship race action.
