BRANTFORD, ON, (AUGUST 21, 2018) – The popular Calabogie Motorsport Park, located just west of Ottawa, ON, will play host to the penultimate weekend in the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship.

Britain West has four cars competing in the event, led by 15 year-old Zachary Vanier of Garson, ON. He will be driving the #65 Mygale Honda sponsored by Anmar and Technica Racing. Vanier is fresh off another impressive weekend at the Grand Prix Trois-Rivieres and is looking forward to getting some laps at yet another brand new track in his young career. He currently sits 5th in Toyo Tires Series points and looks to improve his position in the standings.

Rookie Matt Gidman, of Toronto, ON made big strides at his last appearance in the championship, running with the lead pack and posting personal best times all weekend. He sits 9th in series points and will be driving his #04 Van Diemen sponsored by Fortress Racing.

The team is rounded out by gentlemen drivers Jason Sharpe of Bolton, ON and Ross Smith of Westport, ON.

There are over 20 cars entered for the event, including several teams from Quebec, who annually mark this on their calendar, as it will also count toward their championship point standings.

The action will be fierce all weekend with competitors having to deal with two different track configurations over the two days. Saturday they will run the short and twisty layout with Sunday being run on the long and fast format.

The weekend gets rolling with a full day of testing on Friday followed by practice, qualifying and race 1 on Saturday with race 2 and 3 being run on Sunday.

The forecast looks great and Calabogie has some great areas to watch the racing so come on out and enjoy a day at the track.
