Bowmanville, ON (June 14, 2019) – The popular VARAC Vintage Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is the setting for this weekends races – rounds 7, 8 and 9 in the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship.

It’s been a two-dog fight for the entire season so far between points leader and F1600 veteran Olivier Bedard and Britain West’s 16 year old star Zachary Vanier who sits 2nd in points. Vanier looks to break the stranglehold Bedard has had on the championship so far this year and take his place on the top step of the podium.

Matt Gidman, the 2nd team car, has had a bit of a breakout season and is showing great pace of late and looks to capitalize this weekend and advance his position in the championship.

Gentleman racer Jason Sharpe is back for another round, not having sat in a car since last season and switching over to the team’s Van Diemen from the Mygale, and is looking forward to a fun weekend competing with the field of over 30 cars.

The Thursday test day was a washout with cold conditions and heavy rain at times with limited time on track. Friday there are two official practice sessions in preparation for qualifying early Saturday morning and the first race of the weekend early afternoon. There are two races on tap Sunday to close out the weekend.
