“Five-car assault planned for second weekend of Quebec Formula Ford Championship taking place at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve”

Brantford, Ontario – June 7, 2011 – Britain West Motorsport, Canada’s leading Formula Ford competition group, heads this weekend to the world class city of Montreal and the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for the annual motor racing pilgrimage to the mecca of Canadian motorsports. While some tracks my claim to be the home of Canadian motorsports, no single venue attracts more fans and international attention than the incredible Isle Notre Dame facility. Running in the Pro Division will be Pembroke, Ontario driver Nathan Blok, who is joined by St-Jeanne d’arc, Quebec native Sergio Pasian and Sofina Foods Driver Development member Garett Grist from Grimsby, Ontario. Guy Gilain from St. Eustache, Quebec will be representing BWM the Masters class along with Longueuil, Quebec stock driver Isabelle Tremblay, who is making her formula car debut. The unique setting of the Canadian Grand Prix sees the Formula Ford cars run in support of the Formula One program. Britain West Motorsport has had a great start to the year with multiple podiums and wins in both the opening weekend of Ontario Formula Ford Championship and the Quebec Formula Tour 1600 Series.

“This will be a very big weekend for us. We purchased a new trailer last year in the hopes of servicing more clients. That’s paid off as we have five Britain West Motorsports cars taking to the track this weekend,” comments David Clubine, Team Principal for Britain West Motorsport. “Nathan and Garett are driving great and I expect them to be quick. Sergio and Guy didn’t have any luck in Tremblant and I expect to see them bounce back. We tested Isabelle and I really think she will be quick as well.”

Opened in 1978 on the site of the 1967 Expo, the 4.36 km, 13-turn track is unique in its layout and only sees racing action twice a year. The facility is a favourite of drivers from around the world and when not in use it acts as a public park the rest of the year. A staggering 45 cars will take to the ultra-fast layout for qualifying on Friday morning followed by race one on Saturday at 3:30pm. The second race will take place on Sunday morning at 8:00am.

“We won this race last year with a young hot shoe. I really hope we can do the same again this year. We have a really good mix of drivers that should work well together,” smiles Clubine. “The crew have been working overtime here at the shop getting the cars ready. We have developed some more horsepower in our engine shop. And we have an excellent handle on the slick tire from our Tremblant weekend.”
