MONTREAL, PQ, (JUNE 8, 2018) – The popular Grand Prix du Canada is the setting for this weekends pair of races on the F1600 Canada tour in support of the only Canadian stop on the Formula One circuit. This will also be the first two rounds of the F1600 Super Series, attracting the best racers from Canada’s two F1600 championships to compete head-to-head over 4 weekends.

Britain West has four cars competing in the event, the first piloted by karting standout and rookie to F1600 racing Zachary Vanier of Garson, ON. He will be driving the #65 Mygale Honda sponsored by Anmar and Technica Racing.

Rookie Matt Gidman, of Toronto, ON also makes his debut on the famed circuit driving his #04 Van Diemen Honda sponsored by Fortress Racing.

Jason Sharpe, of Bolton, ON did compete at this event last year and will be driving the #64 Mygale Honda.

Bertrand Godin, a racing legend in Quebec having competed in F3000, Indy Lights and Formula Atlantic in the 90’s makes his return to Formula 1600 racing. His career started in Europe, twice as the runner up in the French Formula Ford Championship and giving the manufacturer Mygale it’s first ever win. He will be reunited with Mygale this weekend driving the #77 with sponsorship from electric bicycle manufacturer Velec.

32 cars will compete for the glory of standing on the F1 podium this weekend with practice starting Friday at 3:55 pm for 30 minutes. Saturday’s qualifying session will be an early start at 9:00 am and Race 1 will roll off at 5:40pm. The final race of the weekend will get the green flag at 9:00 am Sunday.
