Bowmanville, ON (May 10, 2019) – The 2019 Toyo Tires F1600 Championship season kicks off with this weekend’s BEMC Spring Trophy races at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Britain West will campaign a total of 3 cars, 2 for returning drivers Zachary Vanier and Matt Gidman in addition to 1 for Tony Martella, a gentleman driver making his debut in the series. Vanier and Gidman are coming off some strong results in pre season testing in the US and will be a threat for championship contention.

In addition to the F1600 program, Britain West is pleased to welcome newcomer Qi Cao with his Tatuus Fiat F4 car, competing for CASC Formula Libre honours. Qi will have his car prepped and maintained at the Britain West shop and we are excited to play a part in his racing debut this season.

With over 20 cars entered for this weekends F1600 event, including a new crop of outstanding young drivers moving up from the karting ranks, the competition will be tough enough but the weather may be tougher. Spring is a little late in making an appearance this year and cold, wet weather is in the forecast.

Saturday it all gets started with an early morning practice followed by the first qualifying session of the season. Race 1 will take place late afternoon. Sunday will play host to rounds 2 and 3 of the series.
