Driver Announcement – Britain West Motorsport is thrilled to announce Jake Cowden, of Aurora, Ontario as the driver for the team’s #66 Mygale Honda contesting the entire Toyo Tires F1600 Championship this season.
“I’m very much looking forward to having Jake join the team,” said team owner David Clubine.“ We have had tremendous success bringing fast, young karters into formula cars over the years and Jake’s proven success at that level leads me to believe he’s going to get up to speed quickly so we’re ready to get the season started,” he added.
Cowden comes to the team as a multi discipline racer, having won races and championships in the ultra-competitive national level karting scene and on the ice ovals in his F340 snowmobile.
“I am very excited to be racing in the 2021 Toyo Tires F1600 Championship and to be part of a great team,” said Cowden. “Car racing will be very different from kart racing and I look forward to the challenge. I will put in lots of effort on and off the track to make the transition. I had the pleasure of meeting some of the Britain West Motorsport crew last year, and I am confident in their ability to get the car set up, and teach me what I need to know to be successful,” he added.
Cowden and the Britain West team will get their first taste of competitive action at the season opening Summer Challenge, June 5/6 at Shannonville Motorsport Park.
