“Britain West Motorsport driver Nathan Blok takes Quebec Formula Tour 1600 Pro Class Championship to cap off stellar season”
Brantford, Ontario - September 29 - Britain West Motorsport, Canada’s leading Formula Ford competition group, grabbed the first major Formula Ford Championship up for grabs in 2011 by taking the Pro Class title in the Quebec-based Formula Tour 1600 Series. The Britain West Team made the trip to the Mont Tremblant Circuit for the final round of the 2011 Formula Tour season. In the title hunt heading into the weekend, Nathan Blok of Pembroke, Ontario ran a solid weekend as the second year racer paced the front of the field en route to taking his first Pro Class title. Also on hand was Sergio Pasian of St. Jean de Arc, Quebec, who had another strong outing running inside the lead group all weekend. Masters driver Guy Gilain of St. Eustache, Quebec was able to hit the podium and secure two top five finishes to close out his season.
“What a great weekend, taking our first championship of the season. Congratulations to Nathan for a great job all year. He has been getting faster all season long and really proved his speed in this final weekend of racing,” comments Britain West Motorsport owner David Clubine. “All the guys did an amazing job all weekend. Sergio has now proven himself to be a legitimate front runner and Guy is really becoming the top Masters driver in the field.”
In Saturday action it was Blok hitting the checkered flags first but a post race penalty for a jump-start moved him to third in the official order. Pasian crossed in fourth place followed by Gilian who hit the stripe first of the Masters drivers. Sunday was another perfect day in the rolling hills north of Montreal. This time Blok would not be denied as he battled for the win, earning top spot on the box and securing his championship title. Pasian crossed in fourth for his second top five of the weekend, while Gilian battled for the Masters win but had to settle for fourth at the stripe.
“Dave and the team from Britain West Motorsports did an awesome job preparing my car for each race, making my job look easy,” comments Blok after the final race. “On more than one occasion this season the entire team worked tirelessly to get my car ready.
