Driver Announcement – Britain West Motorsport is excited to announce that Nick Gilkes, of Richmond Hill, Ontario will contest the entire Toyo Tires F1600 Championship in the team’s #64 Mygale Honda.
“There’s nothing I enjoy more than helping young, talented drivers launch their formula car racing careers so the signing of Nick to the team is great news,” said Britain West principal David Clubine. “He’s been doing lots of competitive sim racing in the off season and is ready to go as soon as the weather allows so we are eager to get started and get him up to speed,” he added.
Gilkes will challenge for Rookie of the Year honours after getting a taste of formula car racing in 2020, competing in two F1200 events after an extensive testing schedule and building on his two championships in national level karting.
“We are fortunate to have some world class teams in Canada, but what Britain West have consistently achieved over so many years is their ability to develop young drivers which makes this a perfect opportunity for my next step on the racing ladder,” said Gilkes. “I can’t wait to get in the car, start testing and hopefully build up some decent pace before the season starts.”

The Toyo Tires F1600 Championship gets underway June 5/6 at the Summer Challenge event at Shannonville Motorsport Park.
